From the Chicago Tribune:
Sideshow Theatre Company announced its 2017-18 season, featuring a world premiere from Chicago playwright Kristiana Rae Colon, Monday.
Closing the season is Colon's "Tilikum" (June 22-July 29, 2018). Lili-Anne Brown will direct the premiere about the power structures at play in the story of an orca who goes from king of the ocean to amusement park captive.
"Tilikum is a reimagining of the true story of the eponymous killer whale at the center of CNN's documentary Blackfish. Through drums, movement, & poetry, it retells the story of the orca's captivity as allegory for mass incarceration, solitary confinement, & slavery. " Kristiana Rae Colón
