Black Lives, Black Words – part of a shared project initiated by award-winning playwright Reginald Edmund – explores the black diaspora experiences in some of the largest multicultural cities in the world including Chicago, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Baltimore and London to investigate the question "Do black lives matter today?" This project serves as a comparative study to raise awareness of the shared and different national and transatlantic experiences in the black community and evaluate the impact it has had on the black community at large.
Local black artists E.G. Bailey, Carlyle Brown, Sha Cage, Laurie Carlos, James Austin Williams, Idris Goodwin, ShaVunda Horsley, Kyra Calvert, Abdi Phenomenal, Harrison David Rivers, Toki Wright and more will share original works.
Reginald Emund has previously produced the USA premiere of Black Lives, Black Words at the Greenhouse Theatre in Chicago in July 2015 and the UK premiere in at the Bush Theatre in London in October 2015.
