Kristiana Rae Colón play part of Flea Theater 2016 season
The Flea Theater in New York City has announced its spring 2016 season, including a play by Chicago playwright Kristiana Rae Colón.
Colón's play "but i cd only whisper" will receive its New York premiere Feb. 18 through March 14. David Monteagudo will direct Colón's play set in 1970s New York City about a Vietnam War veteran who comes home to his family. The play features extracts from "for colored girls..." by Ntozake Shange.
Goodman Theatre named Colón, a resident playwright at Chicago Dramatists, to its all-female Playwrights Unit this year.

Opening night is slated for February 29.
Performances are Thursday–Monday at 9PM.
Tickets are $15 – $35 with the lowest priced tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis.
At the tail end of the Vietnam War veteran Beau Willie Brown attempts to return to the family and life he left behind. Inspired by and including extracts from For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enufby Ntozake Shange, but I cd only whisper moves through time and space fusing the physical and the poetic to explore the affects of trauma, society, and self.

The New York Premiere of but I cd only whisper will be directed by Flea Resident Director David Monteagudo and features The Bats, The Flea’s resident acting company.
