Route 66's Monthly Reading Series
"The Driver's Seat"
By Aline Lathrop Glick
(Route 66 Theatre's Founder and Artistic Director)
(Fresh from ABRAHAM LINCOLN WAS A F*GG*T)
This month's reading showcases one of our finalists from our New Play Development Workshop! TRADE SHOW is a funny, sexy look at casual sex when the relationship becomes anything but casual. Join us!
Isabel is newly returned to work as a sales rep for a software company. Ed is a slick advertising salesman. They meet at a trade show and begin a relationship that exists only there, and at similar events around the country. It barely feels like adultery, because the world seems to recede into the background of purgatorial hotel rooms and anonymous convention centers.
Aline Lathrop Glick's work has been produced or developed at numerous theatres both in Chicago and across the country, including Chicago Dramatists, Artistic Home, Circle Theater, American Theatre Company, Northwestern University, Theatre Seven, and Stage Left Theatre. Her play, MERCHILD will be produced by 16th Street Theatre this fall.
